Almost a baby!!!

Yesterday Mom and Dad had an eventful day! My mom had her normal weekly doctor's appointment yesterday morning, and my Aunt Heidi happened to have an appointment with the same doctor around the same time (which was a God thing!), so they rode together. Well, while my mom was at her appointment, she was told that her blood pressure was unusually high. They checked it quite a few times because she is normally on the lower side of normal. The doctor decided to send her on over to Labor and Delivery to be observed for several hours. Being 50% effaced and only 1 cm dialated, he said her body wasn't quite ready to have me, but that sometimes high blood pressure can over rule that. He also said that with us being only 2 weeks away there's not much more either of us can benefit from, and that he might just induce her. My mom hasn't wanted to be induced if at all possible, so she was praying that her blood pressure would come down.

The doctor was able to hurry Aunt Heidi through her appointment so that she could go with my mom to be admitted to Labor and Delivery. My mom was thankful not to be by herself. My dad came shortly after, and they both kept her company while they ran different tests. She was nervous about having me because she didn't feel mentally or physically prepared, although she was excited about the possibility of seeing me sooner! She thought she was ready to have me, but when faced with the possibility of it happening, she was ready to bail! Dad was especially excited!! He was all smiles when he came in the room!

After the results came back a few hours later, all levels were normal and she was free to go. They were a little disappointed not to have me (dad was also disappointed because staying in the hospital meant being able to watch some game on ESPN since they don't have cable at home!), but they were really glad that my mom didn't have to be induced. The doctor and nurse said it was a fluke thing that sometimes happens with first-time moms. Mom's supposed to take it easy this weekend and will go to her normal appointment next Thursday. They did tell her not to finish her last day of work today. She was very sad about that since Webster is family to her and will miss everyone so much! But she must rest so that we both stay healthy!
