I am a BOY, and my name is Austin Kyle Nix. Austin is my Great-Grandfather Dilling's middle name, and Kyle is my Papa Nix's middle name.

The doctors said I look healthy and growing very well!!!

BOY or GIRL ANNOUNCEMENT COMING JUNE 27th

Mom and Dad are getting an unltrasound a few days early and I am going to show them June 27th. I will post my name on this Blog that night....stay tuned.

Here is my Mom with my 2 other cousins. Melody (on left) is due in a few weeks and Melissa (on right) is due in September. I told them they have to be patient and wait on me before we can all play together. (My dad is the one in the tux in the background.)

Week 18 (June 14th)

Head to bottom, I am approximately 6 inches long (about the length of a large sweet potato) and I weigh almost 7 ounces. I have been busy flexing my arms and legs — movements that mommy will likely start noticing more and more. My blood vessels are visible through my thin skin and my ears are now in position and stand out from my head. Myelin (a protective covering) is beginning to form around my nerves, a process that will continue for a year after I am born.
I gave my Dad his first Fathers Day card today, and he sure enjoyed it. We also went on a boat ride at the lake and my Mom REALLY enjoyed that!!

I am going to reveal to my parents if I am a boy or girl on June 29th at 11:30am and I will broadcast my big announcement via this blog, so stay tuned.... I may even include an updated photo of myself.

Mom at 17 weeks

Here is a picture of me, my mom (turned to the side) and her friend Laura. I am about 17 weeks in this picture, and really pushing on my moms stomach.

Week 17 Update

Wow am I growing!! I weigh about 5 ounces now, and am around 6 inches long — about the size of a large onion. I can move my joints, and skeleton — until now rubbery cartilage — is starting to harden to bone. My sense of hearing is also developing and I can even hear Levi the dog barking.

How I am doing at 4 months...and latest developments!

At 4 1/2 inches long (head to bottom) and 3 1/2 ounces, I am about the size of an avocado. In the next three weeks, I will go through a tremendous growth spurt, though, doubling my weight and adding inches to my length. My lower limbs are much more developed now. My head is more erect than it has been, and my eyes have moved toward the front of my head. My ears are close to their final position...from what I hear. :) Some of my more advanced body systems are working, including circulatory system and urinary tract. My heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, circulating my total blood volume through my body many times. (By the end of 9 months, this will increase to about 190 quarts.) The patterning of my scalp has also begun, though my hair isn't recognizable yet. Although closed, my eyes are moving (slowly), and I am even started growing toenails.
