Another Week.....

Andy and I went to the doctor this morning with bags packed, prepared to come home with Campbell in a few days. However, despite the contractions I've had over the last few days, there were no changes from last week. My doctor was a bit surprised that I had not progressed more and decided that we'd wait until next Monday to induce. We were a little disappointed not to meet sweet Campbell today, but we were overall glad about the decision...I had hesitations this morning about him coming 16 days early.

With Christmas two days away and famiy in town, waiting another week will be easy!

Christmas Baby???

As you've well noticed, I haven't gone through the rigmarole of entering all of the "invited" email addresses yet, so for now our blog is not private. Call me lazy.....I do have a baby on the way, you know! Which brings me around to the point of this entry.....

I went to my 37 week appt today, and I was dilated about 1 1/2 cm and effaced (don't know how much though) - my dr said I wasn't going to have this baby any minute, but that I was on my way. I've kept in mind this whole time that I had Austin at a little over 38 wks, so I've tried to get ready as much as possible. However, I wasn't expecting the next words out of my dr's mouth.....he said for me to schedule an appt for first thing Tues morning and to come with Andy and to have our bags packed! If I am progressed in any way, he will induce. This was actually music to my ears. I've never wanted to be induced, but having a toddler to plan arrangements for and with Christmas, it has been a very appealing option. Although, that would mean Christmas morning in the hospital...but if truth be told, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - the whole reason for Christmas (and life in general) - was born in a stable....we can deal with Christmas in the hospital! :)

BUT if I'm not progressed, then it's up to the lake for Christmas with Andy's family, then to the hospital Monday morning to have our precious baby Campbell. Oh yeah, by the way...his name is Campbell Kent....Andy calls him Camp. :)

On the way home I had one pretty long labor contraction, but none since. Who knows, I could walk around having contractions for days like with Austin, or maybe you'll hear from me sooner!!

I am filled with excitement and joy about meeting and holding Campbell, however, I am having bittersweet tears thinking about Austin and how much life will change for him. He is growing and learning and doing so much that I don't want to miss a second of it. At nap time today, I laid down with him and we read and talked and laughed and just stared at each other from across the pillow we were sharing - what a sweet, sweet time. I savored every moment.

Please keep us in your prayers over the next week or so as the unknowns (and knowns) of labor, delivery, recovery, and newborn life await us. Also pray for our dr and nurses to have wisdom, attentiveness, carefulness and joy, and that the presence of the Lord will fill the room!

PS ~ I added two more slide shows to Austin's birthday post - one of his party and one of his birthday night out.
